Star Wars Outlaws, the long-awaited game for Ubisoft, was a huge disappointment after its release. The game managed to sell only 1 million copies in the month since its release. This figure was far below the company’s expectations.

Players were initially excited by the game’s promise of a vast, open-world experience and unique storyline. However, as we got closer to the release date, the positive ‘hype’ about the game gradually diminished. Especially the gameplay videos released before the release of the game did not create the expected excitement in players.
Shortly after its release, social media platforms were abuzz with posts about the game’s poor stealth sequences and bugs. Although Ubisoft quickly released patches to address these issues, the game’s reputation was already tarnished.
This seems to have affected the company’s other projects as well. For example, Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ release date has been pushed back from November 2024 to February 2025. This delay is thought to be related to the poor performance of Star Wars Outlaws.
The game’s sales figures are even more striking when compared to Ubisoft’s other successful titles. For example, Assassin’s Creed Mirage managed to sell 5 million copies three months after its release.
Experts say that Star Wars Outlaws is unlikely to sell much more than that. This once again shows that big-budget productions in the gaming industry may not always succeed.
